The Need for Digitalisation
PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd. (“POSH“) is a leading offshore marine services provider headquartered in Singapore with over 60 years of operating experience and specialised expertise in offshore and marine oil field services. POSH offers harbour towage services at Port of Singapore with 25 vessels since 2013 and directly competes against 5 key tugboat operators within the port limits of Singapore.
In the past, scheduling of tug boats, dispatching the order, bill generation and invoicing were very much manual based process. The ordering-execution-billing flow was heavily manual, paper-based and time inefficient for POSH. Additionally, tug ordering, planning and billing processes were separate, siloed processes that required tedious coordination and interventions. This situation is made worse with the need for operations to manage job request amendments, that are not uncommon. The complexity of managing tariffs and billings further added new dimensions to the challenge.
POSH set about identifying solutions that could best meet these needs and deliver the maximum possible benefits. MarineM was selected as the winning product.
Benefits of using marineM
POSH now uses marineM for most of its towage business operations including ordering, tracking of towage job records, and generations of bills. Compared to when tug ordering was paper-based, POSH now has an electric order book of tug orders that are tracked accurately, and simplifying job amendments process. The towage job records are electronically recorded in marineM, that on completion are sent for billing that are automatically generated based on user defined rules. A new update to MarineM Billing System, provides a new facility that allows POSH finance to easily configure billing rules and computations that are in line with the pricing package they offer to customers. With rule-based automated bill generation, and electronic capture of towage job duration, marineM significantly reduces billing errors no matter how complex the billing.
Future
As marineM rolls out new optimisation upgrades, it is clear further benefits are available and will be realised over time. In deed, it is likely that they will be greater than those already realised.
